Bailies of Bennachie

The Bailies of Bennachie is a voluntary conservation society (SC 013298) whose objectives are to encourage and stimulate the public’s interest of Bennachie. The Bailies work involves helping to maintain footpaths and rights of way and enhance people’s enjoyment and understanding of Bennachie, by promoting its geology, literature, ballads, poetry, art and music through publications and events.

Kemnay Community Council

Kemnay Community Council aims are promoting current events, village facilities and providing a brief background of our rich and diverse cultural history, including Kemnay Railway and Kemnay Granite Quarry. The aim is to establish a gateway of discovery to reveal the past, present and future of this rich and vibrant community and a first stop point of reference to all that is available to members of the community.

Mountaineering Scotland

Founded in 1970 by the Association of Scottish Climbing Clubs, Mountaineering Scotland is the only recognised representative organisation for hill walkers, climbers and ski-tourers who live in Scotland or who enjoy Scotland’s mountains.

North East Mountain Trust

North East Mountain Trust (NEMT) is a Scottish Charity (SC008783) based in the Grampian area, which represents the interests of hill-goers and those who enjoy visiting wild land.

The Cosmic Hillbashers comprise fairly like-minded folk living in and around Aberdeen who run over hills! Most club members compete in hill races and many participate in other sports, but we often run just for the fun of it, and Bennachie is one of our favourite spots as it gives such a wide range of routes for all distances and abilities.

Woodland Trust

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We would oppose any route which would threaten ancient woodland which is an irreplaceable habitat of unrivalled biodiversity value. The area along the A96 has a significant amount of Scotland’s remaining ancient woodland, including in the vicinity of Bennachie. Damage to this habitat must be avoided.
