Call To Action!

Transport Scotland and Amey Arup, their design consultants, have announced details of their public exhibitions where we will find out if any of the shortlisted alignments for the new A96 dual carriageway Eastern Section, south of Huntly - Aberdeen, will involve Bennachie. These alignments will be the serious contenders as the preferred route choice is to be announced in 2019.

The Save Bennachie Campaign are calling upon our supporters and all those who love and want to protect Bennachie from this 4 lane dual carriageway to try to attend these events. You will be able to see the possible route alignments for yourself , and we would encourage you to have your comments recorded on the forms available. Note: Only written comments will be recorded.

Transport Scotland and Amey Arup personnel will be there to answer your questions on the design and assessment work.

Bennachie’s admirers turned out in force at our last call to action ,and we are asking you once more to show your support for the hill by attending these crucial exhibitions and making your feelings known. You may also wish to encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to attend.

The events are as follows:

  • Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th October Inverurie Town Hall 12 noon - 7pm
  • Wednesday 10th October Stewart’s Hall Huntly 12 noon - 7pm
  • Thursday 11th October Kinellar Community Hall Blackburn 12 noon - 7pm

Please put the dates in your diary, and let’s leave them in no doubt that it’s vital to preserve the Bennachie area unspoiled for future generations to enjoy.

If you are unable to get along to one of the exhibitions, there will be a link available on the Transport Scotland website from 12 noon on Monday 8 October 2018 which will show details of the information on display. Please be sure to send in your comments by 22 November 2018.

Finally we would like to thank you for supporting the campaign to protect Bennachie from the new dual carriageway.

We also want to thank you in advance if you are able to attend the exhibitions or examine the plans online and submit your comments.
